The words of the Serenity Prayer have inspired me to become a part of the Heros Humanitarian Foundation. I believe that we are all capable of making a difference in someone’s life. It was a simple decision for me; we were a group of friends lucky to be blessed with a roof over our heads and food on our plates; however we realized that there are many people who lack these everyday luxuries and believed that we as a group can change that. I feel that it is important to give; whether it be a helping hand, money for clothes or simply your time to listen to a person in need. Through Heros I feel that we can accomplish this.  I also wish to inspire others to join our journey as well. For people to realize that they can make a difference if they really set their minds to it. God has granted me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I firmly believe that it is my duty and purpose to help those who are less fortunate than me, and the Heros Humanitarian Foundation has given me the opportunity to do work focusing on the physical and spiritual nourishment of the youth within our community. I recognize that our world is full of injustice and intolerance, but I also believe in the good in people to reach out and lend a helping hand. My parents, from a very young age, encouraged me to help others through volunteer work, and it has thus become a lifelong avocation and passion. Through compassion and respect, I believe the youth in our communities can give one another hope to overcome adversity. With humility, I embark on this journey of giving, and in return gain gifts which are priceless: smiles of gratitude and a pathway to a brighter future for those who once appeared to be in the dark.

As we go on with our everyday lives, we take so many simple blessing for granted. It just takes one moment to reflect and realize all that we have been blessed with.  I have always been surrounded with a loving family and friends, whose support has given me the ability to work and pursue an education without having to worry about basic necessities. With that same realization exists the unfortunate fact that there are so many children and families all around us who are in need of such simple necessities. The awareness that there are people in this world less fortunate than I have been in my life has brought about this urge and passion to try and make a difference.  By fate, I was joined by a few of my peers who had simoultaneously come to the conclusion that talking about how we want to help was no longer enough, and it was time to put our thoughts and ideas into action. Being apart of the Heros Humanitarian Foundation is the opportunity I seek to be able to give back, to be able to make a difference for one child and one family at a time, it is the chance to try to be a hero in whatever way I can for all the people whose struggles have given me a purpose in life.

Treasurer

The true heroes in my life have been my mother and father. They were two diligent, hardworking individuals bound together by their love for their family. At a young age, my parents bestowed upon me valuable ethics and morals that have helped shape the man I have become. It is with such a love-engulfed upbringing I have attained a modest and humble methodology towards life. As an active member of Heros Humanitarian Foundation, I hope to pass on those same values of honesty, equality, humility, and social responsibility. Through this foundation, I am awarded the opportunity to enrich and nourish the lives of local community members and help promote the greater good. By fostering this benevolent behavior, I too may become a hero in my own capacity.

My definition of a hero is a selfless person whose purpose in life is to bring happiness to the lives of others. I have been very lucky to have had such people in my life. A family that nurtured and assured I was raised to show dignity and respect to others. People that taught me that no matter how bad you think your life is, there are always others much less fortunate. To always be thankful for what you have and to do your best to help those in need. I consider myself very blessed to have had such a wonderful upbringing. Unfortunately there are many people who are not as fortunate. I firmly believe that each and every single person has the capacity to become a hero in their own way. This is the reason why I joined the Heros Humanitarian Foundation. My ultimate goal as an active member of this foundation is to try and reach out to our youth and to make a difference. I believe that if we all take time out of our busy lives and help one person, we can make the world a much better place to live.

In my life I have seen how a mentor or a hero can affect a young youth’s life in a positive way. Growing up, I had several individuals that I looked up to and admired. I aspired to be like these individuals because of the examples they set. Whether they were members of my family, teachers or athletes, these individuals became my role models. I feel that I was blessed because I was always surrounded by people who cared and insured that I was given all the essentials in life to succeed. I have also sadly worked with many young people that have not had the same support system. I am now a part of the Heros Humanitarian Foundation with the hopes of paying it forward. My goal as a member of this foundation is to try and reach out and make a change. My dream is to help as many people as we can that need aid or guidance, to try and make a small change in the lives of all of those less fortunate than us.
